The Regional Training Course on Radiotherapy Patient Safety and QUATRO Audit Methodologies (RAS6107)
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and Siriraj Radiation Oncology, Mahidol University, successfully concluded the Regional Training Course on Radiotherapy Patient Safety and QUATRO Audit Methodologies (RAS6107). Held from 26–30 May 2025, this significant event aimed to strengthen safety standards and quality assurance practices within radiotherapy across the Asian region.
The course was officially opened by the course director, Asst Prof Nantakan Apiwarodom, welcoming professionals from across Asia who aspire to become radiotherapy auditors.
The course saw active participation from 46 professionals representing 17 countries throughout Asia. It was meticulously structured to educate and advocate for comprehensive quality audits in radiotherapy, emphasizing the QUATRO (Quality Assurance Team for Radiation Oncology) methodology.
During this intensive five-day program, attendees engaged in expert-led discussions, interactive workshops, and practical demonstrations covering various critical aspects such as radiotherapy patient safety, advanced audit procedures, roles of healthcare professionals in audits, infrastructure evaluation, equipment and patient procedure assessments, and reporting of incidents or near-miss situations.
Internationally recognized IAEA experts, including Prof. Primož Strojan from the Institute of Oncology Ljubljana, Slovenia; John Kenny from Health STEM Solutions; and Nigel Anderson from the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Wellness & Research Centre, provided valuable insights and guidance throughout the course.
We extend our sincere appreciation to all participants and contributors for their enthusiastic engagement and dedication to fostering a culture of safety and quality in radiotherapy. This initiative significantly supports hospitals in adopting audit practices and developing national QUATRO programs.
โรงพยาบาลศิริราช คณะแพทยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยมหิดล ร่วมกับทบวงการพลังงานปรมาณูระหว่างประเทศ (IAEA) ได้จัดการประชุมอบรมระดับภูมิภาค ในหัวข้อ "ความปลอดภัยของผู้ป่วยจากการรักษาด้วยรังสีและแนวทางการตรวจสอบคุณภาพตามมาตรฐาน QUATRO (RAS6107)" ระหว่างวันที่ 26–30 พฤษภาคม 2568 ณ โรงพยาบาลศิริราช
ผู้ช่วยศาสตราจารย์ พญ.นันทกานต์ อภิวโรดมภ์ ผู้ดำเนินการหลักสูตร ได้เปิดหลักสูตรนี้ต้อนรับผู้เชี่ยวชาญจากทั่วเอเชียที่สนใจและต้องการเป็นผู้ตรวจสอบคุณภาพด้านรังสีรักษา
การอบรมครั้งนี้มีเป้าหมายเพื่อเสริมสร้างมาตรฐานความปลอดภัยและการประกันคุณภาพของการรักษาด้วยรังสี โดยมีผู้เชี่ยวชาญเข้าร่วมกว่า 46 คน จาก 17 ประเทศในเอเชีย ผู้เข้าร่วมได้แลกเปลี่ยนความรู้จากการบรรยายเชิงลึก เวิร์คช็อปปฏิบัติการ และ การสาธิตการดำเนินงานในพื้นที่จริง
หัวข้อสำคัญประกอบด้วยความปลอดภัยของผู้ป่วย เทคนิคการตรวจสอบขั้นสูง บทบาทหน้าที่ของบุคลากรทางการแพทย์ในการตรวจสอบคุณภาพ การประเมินโครงสร้างพื้นฐาน การตรวจสอบอุปกรณ์และกระบวนการดูแลผู้ป่วย รวมถึงการรายงานเหตุการณ์และความเสี่ยงในการรักษาด้วยรังสี
วิทยากรผู้เชี่ยวชาญจาก IAEA ได้แก่ Prof. Primož Strojan จาก Institute of Oncology Ljubljana ประเทศสโลวีเนีย, John Kenny จาก Health STEM Solutions และ Nigel Anderson จาก Olivia Newton-John Cancer Wellness & Research Centre ได้ถ่ายทอดประสบการณ์และความรู้ เพื่อสนับสนุนให้โรงพยาบาลต่างๆ ในภูมิภาคสามารถนำไปประยุกต์ใช้ และผลักดันการจัดตั้งระบบ QUATRO ระดับประเทศต่อไป
